Greek tanker bombed in Libya

Cairo: The 24-year-old tanker Araevo, owned by Greece’s Aegean Oil, was bombed by a fighter plane at the Libyan port of Derna yesterday. Two crewmembers died in the attack and another two are injured.

The 28,610 dwt Liberian flagged vessel had 26 crew onboard.

Fighting around key Libyan ports including El Sider and Misrata has intensified in recent days. There have been reported warnings of ships being targeted by the local airforce for picking up illegal oil.  [05/01/15]
