Greeks hunt down ‘bargain’ Tiger pair, says Lion

Dalian: Brokers report that 2013 has got off to a very active start in the sale and purchase market, with plenty of Chinese action too. The latest weekly report from Greece’s Lion Shipbrokers states that two 56,800 dwt supramax sisters belonging to Dalian Tiger Shipping, Christine Star and Harmony Star, both built in 2011, were bought by unspecified Greek buyers for what was deemed a “bargain” price of $17m each. Officials at Dalian Tiger refused to confirm the deal had gone through. More than $600m in second hand ship trading has been concluded worldwide already in 2013, broker reports suggest.  [17/01/13]
