Guangyuan port opens

Shanghai: Guangyuan port, a river port in Sichuan province, has opened for operation this weekend, becoming the fifth productive port in Sichuan.

The port has constructed four 500 tons-class berths in Hongyan port area, and is planning to build twelve 1,000 tons-class berths with annual handling capacity of 2.6m tons.

“The opening of the port could provide a green shipping channel for western China,” the project manager of Guangyuan port said.

For long-term development, Guangyuan plans to build 51 berths by 2030, with 12.5m tons cargo handling capacity. [29/12/14]
