HIT to launch remote control operations

Hong Kong: Hong Kong’s largest container terminal operator, Hongkong International Terminals (HIT), has inked an agreement with Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Machinery Technology Corporation (MHIMT) to install remote-control operations for the 29 rubber-tyred gantry cranes (RTGs) at HIT’s Container Terminal 9.
The first batch of the remote control RTGs is expected to be in operation by the end of 2014, with the full project expected to be completed during the first quarter of 2015. [11/12/13]
