Indonesia’s Pelindo I to further develop five ports

Jakarta: Indonesian state-run port operator Pelindo I said it will modernize and expand five of its ports this year.

The five ports included Malahayati port, Belawan port, Kuala Tanjung, Dumai port and Batam port.

“Those ports will become our strategic programs this year,” said Pelindo I spokesperson Eriansyah.

PT Pelindo I was also assigned to develop ports in Bagansiapiapi and Gunung Sitoli on the island of Nias.

"The two ports, however, are not included in the expansion and modernization program this year," Eriansyah said.
At the end of 2014, the Transportation Ministry handed over the task to develop 15 commercial ports in 2015 to state-enterprise companies. [26/01/15]
