Japan, Korea and China launch joint online tracking system

Shanghai: Japan, China and South Korea will launch an online cargo tracking system by the end of the first quarter next year allowing exporters and importers to track their cargoes at major ports, according to Japan’s Nikkei Report.

Registered exporters and importers will have access to the service free of charge and will be able to check the status of their cargoes at ports in the three countries online by entering the ID number of a container. The website will immediately show if a shipment has been loaded or has left port.

The three countries have such online cargo tracking systems in place in their domestic markets. The countries will link up these systems to cover trade between them.  [16/07/13]
