Shanghai: Atlantska Plovidba, a Croatian shipowner, announced in a regulatory filing to Zagreb Stock Exchange that it has cancelled an order for two panamax bulkers at Jiangsu Eastern Heavy Industry as the shipyard has failed to deliver the vessels on time.
Atlantska Plovidba ordered four 79,800dwt bulkers at Jiangsu Eastern in 2008 and paid an initial deposit of $54m in total, with delivery scheudled in 2011and 2012. Jiangsu Eastern delivered the first two vessels in 2012 but it couldn’t deliver the other two vessels before the deadline of June30.
Now Atlantska Plovidba is requesting a refund of the deposit. [09/07/13]
