Jurong Port adds to green image

Singapore: Following on from the news of its solar panel investment, Jurong Port is making good on its green credentials, outlining plans to build what it claims will be the world’s first green berths made of recycled concrete from existing berths and yards. The berths will also utilise certified green construction materials such as green cement, green steel mesh and green reinforcement bars.

The new 13.8 m deep berths, to be ready next year, will also enjoy a new 3.1 ha storage area as the Singapore port operator ramps up capacity.

Ten days ago the port announced plans to have the largest solar panel facility among any port in the world with a S$30m set to be finished by the end of the year.  [26/01/15]
