Manila: Local shipowners have reacted with indignation to calls by the Joint Foreign Chambers in the Philippines to lift the nation’s cabotage laws.
“Not because we are afraid to compete with foreign vessels but this is more of a security issue than an economic issue,” MIS Maritime Corp president Edgardo Lacson told local media. MIS Maritime is a member of the Philippine Interisland Shipping Association. [23/12/13]
