Korbetis family linked with return to shipowning

Several companies linked to the Korbetis family, formerly a well known name in Greek shipowning, have been tied to last week’s Jamaican  auction of the Italian controlled 34,500 dwt Trading Fabrizia for $10.3m.

Usually reliable Clarksons  Research pins Kargo Carriers to the ship, while another  other broking report carried by Advanced Shipping & Trading says the purchase is done another Korbetis linked company, Odysea Carriers.

Both companies sold all their ships some years back. Now it appears that the low key Korbetis name is back in shipowing, although Splash’s attempts to confirm it with the family have so far failed. Both selected companies have their websites under construction.
