Largest private shipping company in Anhui bankrupt

Shanghai: Anhui Wuhu Shihui Jianghai Shipping, the largest private shipping company in Anhui province, has gone into bankruptcy, and the boss of the company has run away and is nowhere to be found.

Several ships of the company received a bankruptcy notice while they were still in operation. Some of ships have been unable to dock or have been kept in custody by ports as the company has stopped paying relevant charges. Currently the crew members on the ships are looking for legal assistance.

Wuhu Shihui Jianghai Shipping was established in 1989, it operated nearly 100 vessels with a total capacity of 160,000 dwt, and it mainly transported bulk materials like iron ore, cement and coal on the Yangtze River. [15/07/13]
