Laurin Maritime opts to build in China for first time

Shanghai: Sweden’s Laurin Maritime has ordered its first Chinese ships, albeit at an affiliate of Korea’s Samjin Shipbuilding.

Laurin has opted for four 50,000 dwt chemical tankers, which will deliver in 2015. The deal comes with options, which would deliver in 2016.

The ships will be owned by Laurin’s Isle of Man subsidiary Anglo-Atlantic Steamship. [08/10/13]
