LNG terminal projects could be offered to private firms
Beijing: LNG terminal projects, which are currently monopolized by the three state-owned Chinese oil industry giants, may well be opened up to private firms soon.
“Although we don’t have an exact schedule yet, we are discussing and researching now that private companies would be able to invest in the construction of LNG terminals to increase the supply.” Liu Xiaoli, an official from the Energy Research Institute of the National Development and Reform Committee said.
Currently, China has five LNG terminal projects under operation, all are controlled by state energy firms CNOOC, PetroChina and Sinopec. [10/05/13]
