Lotus rolls out 53 ft container offering across North America

German container leasing firm Lotus Containers has extended its product line with 53 ft intermodal containers aimed at the North American market.

It follows on from the group’s launch last summer of CARRIER53, a shipping line focused on the carriage of these oversized boxes.

Among the advantages of 53 ft containers, according to Lotus, are how easily transferable they are between different modes of transportation. For example, a container can be loaded onto a truck at a warehouse, transported to a rail yard, and then loaded onto a train for long-distance transportation. Another advantage, according to Lotus, is their standardised size. This allows for efficient use of space on trucks, trains, and ships, as multiple containers can be stacked on top of each other.

Lotus will be distributing its 53 ft containers to more than 30 locations across North America.
