Minister calls for Cilamaya port investment to continue

Jakarta: The Transportation Minister of Indonedia, Ignasius Jonan, said the much-anticipated Cilamaya Port project should be continued, as long as the project is funded by the private sector.

“The port is aimed at easing the business process for the surrounding industrial estate, therefore, the investment should come from the private sector that has the interest,” Jonan said during a discussion with the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

“I don’t want a government-to-government loan agreement with Japan to be used to fund the port construction,” Jonan said.

“The government will focus on constructing ports that are not commercially viable for the private sector in order to expand the economies of less developed areas,” he added. [21/11/14]
