OHT secures Technip contract

Norwegian firm Offshore Heavy Transport (OHT) has been awarded a transportation services contract by Technip for the Hywind offshore wind farm in Scotland.

The scope of work includes preparation of the transportation manual including design, procurement and installation of grillage/sea fastenings and supports, as well as stability and ballasting procedures. It will also execute the turnkey transportation of five substructures from Spain to Norway.

OHT will deploy a semi-submersible heavy lift vessel Eagle for the work, with the first voyage scheduled for the first half of 2017.

“This marks our entry into the offshore wind business, a market with enormous needs for logistical and transportation services. OHT has a long track record of providing a timely, predictable and safe service to its customers, and we are committed to demonstrating the same high performance to Technip in Norway and Statoil on this important assignment,” said Torgeir Ramstad, chief executive of OHT.
