Oman Shipping commits to local yard

Muscat: Oman Shipping Company (OSC) has pledged to utilise as much as possible the services of Oman Drydock Company’s ship repair yard at Duqm for the dry-docking and maintenance of its national shipping fleet.

The wholly Omani government-owned national shipping company has also outlined a number of initiatives to help cater to the country’s shipping and marine transportation needs. These initiatives will be highlighted at the fourth edition of TransOman Expo 2014, which will be held at Oman International Exhibition Centre from June 3-5, 2014.

OSC’s presence at the expo will showcase its efforts to build on the successful launch of its Gulf Express Container Feeder service connecting Omani ports with Jebel Ali.

OSC also aims to increase its participation in the carriage of petroleum products along the Omani coast, as well as offer good connectivity on important international trade routes to many local and regional ports.  [06/05/14]
