Pan Ocean orders in China

Dalian: Private Chinese yard New Century Shipbuilding Group has signed a contract to build two 208,000 dwt bulkers with Korea’s Pan Ocean. The 299.95 m long ships will be built at the group’s New Times Shipbuilding subsidiary. The two ships are costing $113m and will be delivered in 2016. The vessels will be classed by the Korean Register of Shipping.

Previously when Pan Ocean ordered in China it tended to do at its erstwhile sister firm, STX Dalian, but since the STX Group has encountered gigantic financial troubles, Pan Ocean has been spun off from the STX Group.  [10/07/14]
