Procopiou continues order spree with eight kamsarmax bulkers at Huangpu Wenchong

George Procopiou’s huge ordering spree continues with more bulk carriers in China.

Hot on the heels of Sea Traders’ deal for ten 82,000 dwt kamsarmaxes at Hengli Heavy Industry, Procopiou’s bulker arm has booked eight 85,000 dwt newbuilds at CSSC-affiliated Huangpu Wenchong Shipbuilding for the first time.

The latest 228.9 m-long newbuilds will deliver between 2025 and 2027 and cost about $37m each, taking Sea Traders’ fleet to almost 60 bulkers.

The Procopiou family, which also controls Dynacom Tankers Management and Dynagas with a total fleet of more than 170 vessels, has ordered nearly 40 ships at Chinese shipyards this year, worth more than $2bn.
