Prosafe flotel set for longer stay in US Gulf of Mexico

Semisub accommodation vessel owner Prosafe has won an extension for the charter of its flotel Safe Concordia.

The company won the contract for the vessel back in October 2022 with an undisclosed US Gulf of Mexico major.

The initial deal for the 2005-built unit entailed accommodation and construction support services for 330 days with up to six months of options. At the time of the award, Prosafe said that the deal was worth $33m.

According to the fleet status report, the contract started in July 2023 and was supposed to last until May 2024. However, this latest extension will see the unit stay in the Gulf of Mexico for an additional four months. If the option for the remaining two months is not exercised, the flotel will end its contract on November 9, 2024.

Prosafe added in an Oslo stock exchange filing that the total value of the extended period is around $12.7m.
