Rare deal for young cape sealed

Herun China Shipping has sold a modern capesize, offloading the six-year-old, 181,100 dwt Herun Zhoushan for $41.5m. Greece’s Chartworld Shipping has been linked to the acquisition.

This is a rare deal, as no traditional-sized capes this young have been sold this year.  While a few modern ore carriers have changed hands in 2023, mostly older capes have been sold in the last couple of years.

The sale leaves the pure breed cape player, Herun, with three sister ships that have been with the company since they hit the slipway.
