Hong Kong: Hainan’s Sanya port has welcomed the SuperStar Aquarius as the Genting-owned Star Cruises goes with the southern city for its homeport this winter, from November to March. The SuperStar Aquarius sets sail today for Vietnam from Sanya. Special trips from Sanya to Hong Kong will run from December 30. Star Cruise is designing more cruise routes for Hainan including more entertainment and catering choices on their cruiseships, a local travel agent said .
Meanwhile, Hainan launched an expanded range of the duty-free on Thursday to encourage more Chinese to buy imported luxury items on the island. The State Council gave Hainan permission to implement the duty-free program on a trial basis one year ago as part of efforts to promote the province as an international tourist destination.
