Shipping of carbon dioxide readies to go mainstream

A flurry of liquefied carbon dioxide carrier orders are about to be ordered.

Busy shipyards will need to find space to build half a century of liquefied carbon dioxide (LCO2) carriers between now and the end of decade as the shipping of CO2 goes mainstream.

Currently there are just four small vessels capable of carrying LCO2, of which only one was purpose built, the other three being converted general cargo carriers. Experts contacted by Splash Extra suggest there will be more than 50 far larger LCO2 carriers trading by 2030.
