Siem Offshore lines up long-term extensions for well intervention vessels at bumper rate

Norwegian offshore vessel operator Siem Offshore has potentially lined up long-term extension deals for two well intervention units.

The Cayman Islands-incorporated firm with its main offices in Kristiansand, Norway has inked a letter of intent with Houston-based offshore energy services company Helix Energy Solution for charter extension on the 2016-built Siem Helix 1 and Siem Helix 2.

Siem Offshore said the deal if firmed up would be for six years per ship at improved dayrates, with
commencement set for January 2025 and 2026, respectively. Financial details have not been disclosed.

Both ships have been on long-term charters with Helix for operations mostly in Brazil. In May last year, the two companies agreed contract extensions with a firm period of three years for Siem Helix 1 and five years for Siem Helix 2 plus options.

The company has a fleet of 27 offshore vessels, including partly owned, and three ships under management. Two vessels were in lay-up at the end of the third quarter.
