Siem Offshore wins another AHTS contract from Woodside Energy

Siem Offshore Australia’s anchor handling tug supply (AHTS) vessel Siem Topaz (28,000 bhp, built 2010) has won a new contract in Australia from Woodside Energy.

The 18-month charter is expected to commence in May. The contract’s value was not disclosed.

In November, Siem Amethyst  (28,000 bhp, built 2011) also began a contract to Woodside in Australia. The firm period expires in August 2016, but the charterer has the option to extend the contract by two six-month periods.

Siem Topaz (pictured, front) has been employed on a relatively steady basis in the North Sea and recently completed a 14-day contract with Nexen. AIS data shows the vessel is currently underway from Eydehavn in Norway to the Suez Canal.

Five of Siem’s ten AHTS vessels are in lay-up in Norway.
