SIPG to add 4m teu new capacity at Yangshan

Shanghai: Shanghai International Port (Group) will plough ahead with the next phase of expansion at its Yangshan Port. SIPG is to spend $1.79bn to boost capacity by 4m teu by 2017. In total some 2 km of new quayside will be built in the northern section of the port.

The fourth phase development of Yangshan has been on hold since 2008 due to concerns about a slowdown in container shipping and a perceived overcapacity among Chinese ports.  [05/06/14]
