Tanjung Priok delays provoke ire

Jakarta: The Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) has hit out at the lengthy delays at the nation’s top port, Tanjung Priok. Vessel turnaround times are taking up to eight days at the port, which handles around 70% of all the nation’s imports. This is an increase from the six and a half days average recorded at the start of the year.

“The dwelling time [at the port]should be lowered to three days as instructed by President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono because we want to reduce logistics costs borne by logistics players and customers, because it affects the price of goods,” Kadin permanent committee on logistics services head Irwan Ardi Hasman said.
