Union Maritime seals another MR acquisition

UK-based Union Maritime has sealed its third MR purchase this year. Brokers say Union Maritime is the buyer of a Navigare Capital tanker, tabling $33.5m for the 50,000 dwt, 10-year-old Kiribora.

In February, Union Maritime added the three years younger, same-sized, Marlin Amethyst at the same price range, sold by M Sea Capital. Back in January it also added the 17-year-old STX-built 47,000 dwt,Proodos, a ship it paid $18.5m for.

VesselsValue counts 20 tankers in Union Maritime’s fleet and notes that the owner also has recently ordered 10 chemical tanker newbuildings this year at three different yards in China since March.
