Vinalines fraud case moves ahead
Hanoi: Prosecutors have fixed fraud charges against 10 people who allegedly caused a loss of over VND366bn ($17m) to the state-owned Vietnam National Shipping Lines (Vinalines). The accused allegedly bought a second hand floating dock for an unreasonably high price in 2008, paying more than eight times what it was actually worth.
Duong Chi Dung, former chairman, and three other former executives also faced charges of “embezzlement” for receiving $1.66m in kickbacks in the transaction. [08/11/13]
