Yang Ming to charter 14,000 teu boxships

Taipei: Taiwan-based Yang Ming Marine Transport has announced that the company will charter five 14,000 teu boxships from Seaspan Corp.

Yang Ming plans to take delivery of the five mage-vessels ships between March and June 2016 from CSBC Corp. It is a first for the Taiwanese shipbuilder to build vessels larger than 10,000 teu.

“The introduction of these 14,000-TEU vessels will mark the upgrade of the company’s fleet,” Frank Lu, chairman of Yang Ming, said at the press conference. [14/08/13]
