Zim ship meets protesters in California

Oakland: For the second day in a row, activists protesting against Israeli strikes in Gaza, succeeded in stopping a ZIM containership from calling at California’s Port of Oakland on Sunday evening. Up to 3,000 people formed picket lines at the Port of Oakland which the longshoremen at the port refused to cross.

The ship is likely to call today with less protestors around. The protest, labelled Ban the Boat, was whipped up via social media in reaction to the ongoing violence in Gaza.  [18/08/14]
