MOL and PIL firm ties

Singapore: Mitsui OSK Lines’ increased presence in the Lion Republic is fostering all sorts of new tie ups. On the box front, MOL has announced two new agreements with Singapore’s Pacific International Lines (PIL). The pair will operate a new Indian Ocean Island Express Service (IOX/IOI) departing Singapore on June 7, 2013.

IOX/IOI is a weekly service jointly operated by MOL and PIL, and each will provide two ships of 1,100 teu effective capacity.

For those that have mulled hopping onboard a boxship for a voyage this 28-day route, calling Singapore – Port Louis – Tamatave – Reunion – Singapore, sounds enticing.

Seperately, MOL also announced today that it is taking space on PIL’s Mozambique Express Service (MZX), departing Singapore on June 7, 2013.

MZX is a weekly service operated by PIL with seven vessels.
