RCL orders feeder pair at Yangzijiang Shipbuilding

Thai boxship operator Regional Container Lines (RCL) has placed an order of two 1,668 teu feeder boxships at China’s Jinagsu New Yangzi Shipbuilding, an affiliate yard of Yangzijiang Shipbulding.

The total contract value of the order is $39.2m and delivery of the vessels is schedule for April and July 2019 respectively.

RCL said the new vessels will replace existing vessels in the fleet as part of its continuous effort to upgrade the fleet with new and efficient tonnage to serve regional customers.

Currently RCL operates a fleet of 39 feeder boxships with an additional four already under construction at New Yangzi Shipbuilding.
