Oslo: The Norwegian general cargo vessel, Fri Sea (3,676 dwt, built 2001), which ran aground on Saturday after it was caught in a squall trying to dock at Corpach, near Fort William in the Scottish Highlands is ready to restart trading.
The vessel is owned by short sea specialist Kopervik Ship Management, based in Kopervik. The ship was due to collect a load of timber when the accident occurred.
Ivar Arne Legand, the ceo of the shipping line, told Splash that he expects the ship to leave this evening but first he needs class approval from Bureau Veritas to proceed.
The close to 100 m long short sea vessel was hit by strong wind, explained the CEO.
The seven crew members have remained onboard the ship and report no injuries or pollution from the accident.
Kopervik Group has close to twenty vessels in its fleet list.
