AAPA elects new chairman

The American Association of Port Authorities (AAPA), which represents seaports in the Americas, announced it has elected a new chairman – William D. Friedman, the CEO and President of the Port of Cleveland, Ohio.

When he is installed at October’s AAPA convention in Valparaiso, Chile, Friedman will inherit the one-year chairmanship from Steve Cernak, CEO and Port Director of Port Everglades in Florida.

Since Friedman took charge at the Port of Cleveland in 2010 it has enjoyed a resurgence in trade and a diversification of cargo types.

AAPA is the voice of 140 maritime port authorities in the US, Canada, South America, Central America and the Caribbean.
