Berge Bulk orders ammonia-ready newcastlemax pair in China

The leading newcastlemax builder in the world, CSSC Qingdao Beihai Shipbuilding, has bagged another order for a pair of ammonia-ready bulk carriers.

James Marshall-led Berge Bulk has gone to northeast China, signing for a pair of 210,000 dwt newbuilds, estimated to cost $80m each.

Earlier this week, Splash reported fellow Singapore owner Eastern Pacific Shipping had ordered four similar ships at the same yard.

Newcastlemaxes are hot property at the moment with Splash reporting today that February marked an all-time monthly record for the ship type in terms of concluded secondhand sales.
