China Merchants seals deal to buy into Australia’s largest coal export port

China Merchants Port Holdings (CMPort) has finalised the acquisition of the Australian port of Newcastle, the largest port on Australia’s east coast, and the world’s largest coal export port.

CMPort now has ports spread across six continents. In February, CMPort acquired Brazil’s second-largest container terminal, Paranaguá Container Terminal.
