China Steel Express set to order capesize duo at CSBC

Taiwanese owner China Steel Express is currently in talks with local yard CSBC for the construction of two 200,000 dwt capesize bulk carriers.

China Steel Express confirmed in a release that the company is currently in negotiations with CSBC regarding the relevant specifications of the next generation of bulk carriers, but the two parties haven’t yet signed an official shipbuilding agreement.

According to market sources, the order value could reach $100m and could be the largest bulker order at CSBC in the past five years.

China Steel Express is the shipping unit of Taiwanese steel trader China Steel Corporation, and currently operates a fleet of 23 bulk carriers.
