Cyan Renewables enters European offshore wind market with SOV buy

Offshore wind service company Cyan Renewables has acquired a 100% interest in service operations vessel (SOV) Groenewind from Belgium’s DEME Group.

Cyan Renewables, a portfolio company of Seraya Partners, said that the vessel was two years old and operating under a 17-year long-term contract to service offshore wind farms in Belgium. This transaction is the first European acquisition for the Singapore-based firm.

The 17-year charter is with Siemens Gamesa for servicing 100 turbines in the Belgian Rentel and SeaMade offshore wind power plants – a combination of the Seastar and Mermaid projects. The charter started immediately after delivery.

Completed in 2021, Groenewind was the first twin-hulled DP2 advanced dynamic positioning SOV in the world.

It enables safe crew transfer in significant wave heights and holds vessel position in rough seas. It has a built-in waste heat recovery system, a motion-compensated gangway, a daughter craft, and room for 24 people.

Cyan is fully owned by Seraya Partners and was created by the fund in 2022 to address the large growing demand for offshore wind vessel services in Asia.
