Delphis adds two at Hanjin Heavy

Seoul: Belgian box operator Delphis has exercised options for a pair of 1,900 teu ice class boxships at Hanjin Heavy Industries & Construction. The options are part of a four-ship deal inked with the Korean yard last year. Clarkson estimates the price for the pair is around $34m.

Delphis, part of Compagnie Maritime Belge, has been on a fleet expansion binge of late. At the start of this month, the company bought the 4,992 teu, 2005-built Santa Regula and its twin, Santa Regina from German owner Reederei Claus-Peter Offen for a total of $37m.

Delphis’s fleet is now close to 25 ships.
