Diana fixes panamax bulker to Glencore Grain

Diana Shipping has chartered its panamax bulk carrier  Triton to Glencore Grain (Rotterdam) for 11 to 14 months at a rate of $6,800 per day, minus a 5% commission for third parties.

The charter period is set to commence on October 29.

“This employment is anticipated to generate approximately $2.14m of gross revenue for the minimum scheduled period of the time charter,” the NYSE-listed company said today.

The rate is a 36% reduction on the $9,250 gross daily rate Glencore Grain was paying when Triton began a 12-month contract to the charterer on October 24 last year.

Today, the Baltic Panamax Index climbed 5 points to 696. The timecharter average rate for a 74,000-dwt vessel on the four benchmark routes today is $5,491 per day, up $33 on yesterday’s level.
