Feng Boming becomes chairman of China Merchants Energy Shipping

Following the recent appointment of Feng Boming as the chairman of China Merchants Port, he was also named the chairman of China Merchants Energy Shipping (CMES).

China Merchants Energy Shipping held the second extraordinary general meeting of shareholders in 2023 in Shenzhen last week to elect members of the company’s seventh board of directors and board of supervisors.

According to the results of on-site voting and online voting, Feng Boming, Deng Weidong, Wu Bo, Wang Yongxin, Zhong Fuliang, Yu Zhiliang, Tao Wu, and Qu Baozhi were elected as directors of the company’s seventh board of directors.

Immediately following the general meeting of shareholders, the company held the first meeting of the new board of directors and the first meeting of the board of supervisors.

The meeting elected Feng Boming as the chairman, Deng Weidong and Wu Bo as the vice chairman, and Sun Xiangyi as the chairman of the board of supervisors. Now, Boming is both the chairman of China Merchants Energy Shipping and China Merchants Port.

Feng joined the China Merchants Group in April 2022 after leaving Cosco Shipping Ports. At the time, he was appointed to the deputy general manager role at China Merchants Group.

Last month, CMPort announced several personnel changes effective on July 24. One of the appointments was Boming becoming the chairman of the board.

By holding these two positions, Feng is now overseeing the entire maritime business of the state-owned China Merchants group.

CM Port has invested or taken a minority stake in 42 ports in 25 countries or regions. In 2022, the company’s container throughput reached 136.53m TEUs and its bulk cargo throughput reached 547m tons.

As of the end of 2022, CMES operated and managed 301 ships – including ordered ones – with a total dwt of 43,360,000. The company claimed that it ranked as second among non-financial shipowners worldwide.
