Great Eastern takes 20-year-old VLGC

Great Eastern Shipping has bought a 20-year old VLGC. No price, nor name, was given by the Indian owner for the 77,000 cu m Japanese-built ship.

The Great Eastern fleet now comprises 32 ships made up of eight crude tankers, 14 product carriers and one LPG carrier as well as nine bulk carriers with an average age of 10.4 years aggregating 2.5m dwt.

Sam Chambers

Starting out with the Informa Group in 2000 in Hong Kong, Sam Chambers became editor of Maritime Asia magazine as well as East Asia Editor for the world’s oldest newspaper, Lloyd’s List. In 2005 he pursued a freelance career and wrote for a variety of titles including taking on the role of Asia Editor at Seatrade magazine and China correspondent for Supply Chain Asia.
