Hutchison adds more capacity at Karachi

Imran Khan, prime Mminister of Pakistan met Eric Ip, group managing director of Hutchison Ports, yesterday to discuss the Hong Kong terminal operator’s expansion plans in south Asia.

Ip confirmed to the prime minister the commencement of construction of the second phase of the Pakistan Deep Water Container Port project in Karachi with $240m of new investment to achieve a handling capacity of 3.2m teu upon completion.

Hutchison has been in Pakistan longer than any other global terminal operator.
