Integrated Wind Solutions strikes WTIV technical management deal with Havfram

Oslo-listed Integrated Wind Solutions has, through its business units IWS Fleet and IWS Fleet Management, reached an agreement with Havfram Wind, a subsidiary of offshore wind contractor Havfram, to provide technical management services for two wind turbine installation vessels (WTIVs) set to deliver in 2025.

The Sandbrook Capital-controlled Havfram, formerly Ocean Installer, has two firm and two optional WTIVs lined up for construction at CIMC Raffles Shipyard in China. The vessels have been designed to install turbines exceeding 300 m in tip height and to handle foundations weighing up to 3,000 tonnes in water depths of up to 70 m.

Awilco affiliate IWS currently has two LNG carriers under technical management and six walk-to-work commissioning service operations vessels (CSOVs) under construction at China Merchants for delivery in 2023, 2024 and 2025, with options for two additional vessels.

As part of the deal, IWS and Havfram Wind will take joint ownership of Havfram Fleet Management (HFM) and IWS will provide management- and technical- resources to HFM, who will be responsible for the technical management of the WTIVs.

Commenting on the collaboration, Christopher Andersen Heidenreich, chief of operations at IWS and managing director of IWS Fleet said: “Our strategic partnership with Havfram Wind is a testament to our distinguished technical expertise and capabilities in the offshore wind sector. With this collaboration, along with our existing fleet, we are very motivated to deliver high-quality and efficient operations across the renewable energy landscape.”

Even Larsen, CEO of Havfram Wind, added: “High quality technical management is essential when commencing operations of our fleet of wind turbine installation vessels. IWS has a long history and a proven track record within ship management of advanced assets and is the perfect fit for Havfram Wind.”
