Japan Drilling awarded jackup contract in Thailand

Tokyo-based offshore driller Japan Drilling Company (JDC) has been awarded a contract by Medco Energi for the jackup rig Hakuryu 11.

The deal will see Japan’s sole offshore drilling contractor work on the Bualuang oilfield offshore Thailand.

Medco has signed up to drill four firm workover wells and three optional wells, with operations commencing around the end of February.

The firm contract will last for about 60 days. Dayrates for the 2013-built unit were not disclosed.
