Jinhui in $31m capesize swoop

Chinese bulker owner and operator Jinhui Shipping and Transportation is expanding its fleet with a capesize purchase from Taiwan’s Hsin Chien Marine.

The Oslo- and Hong Kong-listed outfit has snapped up the 181,279 dwt 2012 Imabari-built New Delight for $30.95m.

The vessel, estimated at $32m by the online pricing platform VesselsValue, is set to deliver between July and mid-September this year.

Jinhui made several transactions last year to clear out older vessels while bringing in younger replacements. The company recently sold the 2006-built 52,050 dwt Jin Sheng for about $10.4m and chartered in a 2021-built kamsarmax. The latest capesize move will add to Jinhui’s 22 owned supramax/ultramax bulkers.
