Kristian Gerhard Jebsen picks new chief executive

Shipping group Kristian Gerhard Jebsen Skipsrederi (KGJS) has made a change to its leadership by announcing Ørjan Lunde as its new chief executive officer.

Lunde took over the CEO role on January 1 from Geir Mjelde who has been the head of KGJS since June 2019. Mjelde will remain with the company in a transitional role until the end of May 2024.

Previously, Lunde served as the chief financial officer of the company from August 2019. KGJS filled the CFO role with Torstein Bruvik who has been with the company since 2014 as the VP of Finance and Treasury.

“We are pleased to have appointed Ørjan Lunde, who has demonstrated change management skills and strategic capability in his previous role. We are confident that Ørjan will move the company forward and capitalise on the opportunities that lie ahead. We are also grateful for Geir Mjelde’s contribution to KGJS over the years and wish him all the best in his future endeavours,” Hans Peter Jebsen, owner and chairman of the KGJS board, said.

“I am excited to move into the role as CEO of KGJS and look forward to expanding our dry bulk activities together with a strong and capable team in Bergen,” Lunde said.
