Latsco contracts for three ultramaxes at Oshima

Greece’s Latsco Shipping has ordered three 64,000 dwt bulk carriers at Oshima Shipbuilding, Japan’s largest shipyard by orderbook.

Latsco’s first move in dry cargo was in 2016 when it acquired four secondhand supramaxes. Latsco now controls a fleet of LNG, LPG, tankers, bulkers and containers.

This week’s orders mark the first time the shipping line has ordered in Japan in its 70-year history.

“The quality, culture and expertise of Oshima played a vital role in Latsco’s decision to proceed with this order,” Latsco stated in a release.
