Maran Tankers exercises another suezmax option at Daehan

Maran Tankers, a unit of Greece’s Angelicoussis Shipping Group, has exercised the second of the two options at South Korean yard Daehan Shipbuilding for the construction of a 158,000 dwt suezmax tanker.

The company acquired two resale newbuilding 158,000 dwt suezmax tankers at Daehan originally ordered by Norwegian owner Faerder Shipping and the contract also includes two options of one ship each.

Last month, Maran Tankers already executed the first option.

The latest order has added to the company’s orderbook at the yard to four suezmax tankers. Delivery of the ships will start from 2020.

Maran Tankers currently operates a fleet of 53 vessels, made up of 39 VLCCs, 12 suezmaxes and two aframaxes.
